Bungie Favorites Submissions Close Tomorrow | mrsmiley { June 26, 2008 }

Just a quick note that the time to submit your content to be featured as a Bungie Favorite will end tomorrow at midnight. We have quite a few excellent screenshots, but not a whole lot of gametype/map variant/etc types submissions, so there's a decent chance of yours getting picked if you show us your stuff! In an effort to take HBN/LTM back to it's roots with a greater focus on "visual/drawn" artwork, Lit of Halo has been ousted out of the forums. It has gone to better place... literally! Floodgate was created with the help of our very own admin, NthroSptn, and was designed with the avid Halo fan fic/roleplay writer in mind. Check out all the details in our forum!

I just updated our forum with a brand spankin' new Halo Babies style. Along with that, you now have the ability to choose between styles in the forum. Currently there are 3 (including Halo Babies). Forum Maintenance - Postponed | mrsmiley { March 23, 2007 }

It looks my planned forum maintenance will have to be postponed, as many of the modifications I was planning on or not available for the time being, due to phpbb.com's site update. I'll be getting things updated soon! Heck, at east this was a good excuse to backup everything! ;)

I don't believe I will be doing a forum upgrade at this time, due to too many risks involved in the process. I WILL however be performing some forum maintenance, and some min minor upgrades/modding. Stay tuned to this news post for updates until the forum is back up again, and I post stuff there. Read main news post for more info.

I plan on updating this forum to the next installment of phpBB as soon as the first official release comes out. Apparently the beta5 they have right now is not the greatest idea for active sites... and hours is extremely active! I am currently backing up our entire forum MySQL database (200MB) and the forum files (5+GB) from my server. This includes every image that has ever been uploaded to the HBN forum!

That's right, the HBN time of trials is over. Everything is online again, and out art forums are back up and running. We decided to use a different gallery structure this time around. Read the N00B Gallery FAQ for more info! We may not have new official strips, but until then, we will really be focusing on our fantastic fan artists and fan strips!

Wow, that's a pretty sweet header image! ;P Well, those 3 spartans just happen to be (from left) hydra66, Sparkie, and Mecha Raum from our forum! They are only a few of over 25 chibis that Archangel has been pumping out for members of our forum over the past couple weeks! Archangel has a great eye for creating chibi characatures, and our members are loving it! If you ever wanted to see yourself in a slick set of MJOLNIR, swing by his Chibi House and request yours! The idea of a Halo Babies chat room is not a new one. Members have been requesting it ever since we first opened the forum! One of our most active members, akba, even made an IRC channel for us! That's all fine and dandy, but I really wanted something that I could integrate with the forum in order to make it as easy as humanly possible to connect and chat with other members. We have a lot of great artsits who frequent this site. Recently, 2 of them have decided to give us an in-depth guid to their methods! v2 gives a step-by-step of his methods for drawing an Elite. Meanwhile, akba shows us how to "vector" a pencil drawing using Adobe Photoshop. Both of these guides are very detailed, and contain plenty of helpful pictures. Check them out!

I was planning on posting the fan art update today, but this will keep you occupied for enough time as it is! (Update will come tomorrow.) Basically, Compassghost just dumped all of his AWESOME flash work into a HUGE THREAD! I can't wait to see his finished work, when he puts it all together! It's definitly worth a look, so go check it out and give him some feedback!

TheComet just mentioned in our forums that he has just released the 7th installment of "That Halo Parody" on Newgrounds.com! Now I know several of his previous works have not exactly been "at par", but this one is really well done, and really funny! He even cameos a couple characters from 2 Halo strips that are running in our forum. The movie can be viewed via NG, here!

Forum Maintenance | mrsmiley { November 23, 2004 }

For those of you that don't know, we got hit by a hacker this morning. This particular individual used a critical hole in our php forum to gain access to my personal shell ftp account for this site. The hack job was easily fixed, and all the passwords have since been changed. However, to keep this from happening again, I am upgrading our forum to latest code version, which fixes this php "hole" that can be exploited.

All that to say, the forum will be going on and offline for the next 24 hours or so. You may receive wierd error messages, but do not be alarmed! When it returns, there will be a few new features for both mods and users, and it will be even more stable! Sorry for the down time, but I don't want another hacker to get through (although I would like to thank this one for not doing as much damage as he could have)! :)

He wants to make a 3-D Halo Babies game, but he doesn't quite have the programming know-how to do it. If you or someone you know has a pretty good knowledge of game design, and would be willing to work a possible Halo Babies first person shooter game, let him know! If nrek can build a team of designers, he will have the full support of this site to make an awesome game!

Art Thief Banned | mrsmiley { September 08, 2004 }

Kira was posting Sieneko's artwork as his/her own. The stolen art was the excellent "baby elite" that was posted here in our new forum Gallery, and was released in our fan art section on Monday. After reviewing the evidence, Kira has been banned, and will not return. This is serious stuff, and I hope this is the only time I have to do this. Sieneko has graciously allowed her image to remain on this page, and I hope she has more! =)

Gaming Artists Wanted! | mrsmiley { August 30, 2004 }

Ever since I modded our forum to allow attachments, people have been posting various forms of gaming art on several of our forums. I really enjoy this stuff, and Gruntsbane does as well...

What should be done about all this artwork "cluttering" up our forums? It was a no-brainer for me. Make a an Artwork Forum! It has been done, and I expect to see even more action from all you talented (or not so) gaming artists out there!

I divided the forum up into two sections. The Sketchbook is a place to post all your "in-progress" artwork. Maybe you are throwing around some ideas for a picture mid-way through and want some feedback... post it! Once you are finished with a piece of art, you can post it in our gallery for all to enjoy. I have future plans for doing monthly featured artists, weekly featured pics, and so one, so do your best and show us your stuff!

I should also mention that within about 2 minutes of opening the brand new forums, our local Adobe guru, akba, had already posted a sneak peak of one of his upcoming Halo 2 vector projects. Rock on! =)

We will choose a different member every month, and this person will receive his own forum title (under his/her name), as well as the ability to score his/her own Halo Babies e-mail adress! Our very first winning member is akba, who has well earned his new title as "The Vectorizer" in our forums! Why? Just swing by our fan art or desktop section and you will know!

Ok guys, here's the deal. When we opened this site, we thought that providing a comment section for the comics would be a good idea. We may have been wrong. It seems that no one reads the text above every posting page that explaines the rules of commenting. If spamming of this section continues, I will deactivate comments for good. Here are the rules for commenting:

Do no comment more than once. From now on, I will delete every comment that a person makes after his first. I won't even read them.

Do not impersonate other members. I have already banned 2 people for this immediatly, and it will not be tolerated.

The comment section is not a forum; don't comment on other people's comments! It is for the comic.

Do not spam. (Plain and simple.)

Anyone who does not follow these rules will be warned, then banned. (Or banned immediatly depending on the offense.) If people continue to act like idiots in the comments, they will go alltogether. I appreciate those who do follow the rules, but there are too many who don't. Thanks.

Over the past few weeks, our local forum moderator/xbox hacker, KRACKA, has been working hard at making us all sorts of Halo videos. Have you ever heard of a cool glitch in Halo, but had no idea of how to find it? KRACKA has both the resources and the smarts to show you how it's done! Spoiled Sponsors *Contest* | mrsmiley { February 24, 2004 }

If you don't already know, this new site was built entirely off money that was provided by a generous group of fans a few months back. To show our appreciation of those who have donated, a special section for sponsors has been created in our brand new forum!

This section currently features a weekly pre-release of the newest comic, discussion for a possible Halo Babies e-mail address feature, opportunity for input on future Halo Babies plans, and the reason for this new post: a sponsor's only contest!

First off, thanks to all those who have donated to Halo Babies! Your money is really appreciated, as this site isn't exactly cheap to maintain! As a way to say thank you, we are offering a kick ass contest to anyone who donates $10 or more to us in the next 2 months. Here are the official rules.

How do I enter?
Simply donate $10 or more to HaloBabies.net! When you do, you will be automatically entered in the contest, and you will have unlimited access to the sponsor's section of the forums!

How will the winner be determined?
I will pick a completely random winner. Most likely through the "pull-a-name-out-of-a-bucket" method.

What will the prize be?
Here's the kick ass part! The winner will get to have themself drawn into an upcoming Halo Babies comic! Not only will your comic be released on the site as a normal addition, you will recieve a framed copy of your comic for your own personal bragging rights!

I have just added a BRAND NEW SECTION to HBN! It is the Miscellaneous section that you see in the nav bar. For the debut of this section I have added 2 banners, as well as 2 buddy icons for your enjoyment! The best thing about this section, is it does not require a membership! I felt I had to share the love even to those who aren't members of HBN. I would appreciate feedback on the Halo Babies forum for this new section; let me know what you think!

Also, keep in mind that if you have any artwork, banners, buddy icons, or anything else that is Halo-related, send it in! It just might get put on this site for everyone else to enjoy! ;)

I have heard the many cries for Halo Babies merchandise from the dedicated fans of HBN, and have been looking into it. After several chats with Bungie.net's Sketchfactor, I have found that I can sell as much merch as I want! ...As long as it does not contain anything that is under Microsoft's license. There are 2 things I have noticed about the HBN forum as of recently: 1. There are in insane ammount of posts. 2. They are all insanely organized! To fix this problem, I have added several new categories, and hand moved to its the appropriate section. This was not easy, so please be sure to respect the change and not go posting Halo polls in the Halo Babies section, or milk chocolate posts in the Halo section! ;-p
